BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION AND TRAINING FOR
DOGS IN NEW YORK CITY

FAQ

Most frequently asked questions and answers

We service most of New York City, but our primary zones are Manhattan East, Western Queens, and Northern Brooklyn.

For an extra charge, we can schedule clients outside of these areas, such as Manhattan West, Southern Brooklyn, or Long Island. See our pricing map below.

For in-person training in Manhattan East, Queens, and Northern Brooklyn, the hourly rate is $180/hour.

All outside areas are $200/hour.

Virtual lessons are $150/hour.

The first half of the session will consist of discussing your dog’s history, current behaviors, and daily routine. We’ll also discuss your training goals and measurements of progress.

The second half will consist of hands-on, active behavior modification. The trainer will demonstrate (within the dog’s comfort level) and coach you through the training exercises. You’ll get a training summary and homework emailed to you within a week.

The first session is 60 to 90 minutes long; follow-up sessions will typically be 60 minutes long.

We address everything from basic manners & socialization, to more serious concerns such as leash reactivity, urban anxiety, aggression towards people or dogs, separation anxiety, and more.

Your trainer can advise you better once they have met your dog in person. Generally, you should expect to see progress with three to five consistent training sessions.

Progress is most dependent on your consistent follow-through of the training exercises.

We employ a variety of training methods, but the primary one is called L.I.M.A. – Least Invastive, Minimally Intrustive. This means that the foundation of our training is positive reinforcement, but we ultimately seek out the most effective, efficient, and humane methods. Click here to read more about L.I.M.A.

We also will meet you where you are with equipment – we understand that safety is a priority when handling dogs, especially in the city. So we will work with the tools you currently have, and suggest any possible alternatives.
